The Common-Folk encompasses a refined minimal approach to the quality and craftsmanship that define denim culture. Each garment is hand made and all fabrications are woven together using rare vintage shuttle looms – a traditional method of weaving fine quality denim fabrics found in Japan.

Before TCF launched into the market they approached me to create a deep dive and consult on their brand identity, market strategy, and designs. Alongside the ideation and implementation of all tailor-made campaigns, content, and collaborations, I provided seasonal analysis and creative consulting on all their branding materials, marketing, design, and social strategies.

RESULTS

With my expertise, network, and insights The Common-Folk expanded internationally with regularly featured on HYPEBEAST and Highsnobiety, with additional highlights on WGSN, and Juice Magazine. Artists like Big Sean, 50 Cent, Lil Uzi Vert, and DRAM, have been profiled wearing our collections, along with high profile influencers including Jayden Smith, Jeff Staple, Mari Takahashi, Tamara Dhia, and Steven Onoja.

Below you will see my latest work with the brand and also a capsule collaboration we set up with KAMIKAZE ATTACK, a denim brand out of Japan.

COLLABORATION

The Common-Folk x Kamikaze Attack

As part of Kamikaze Attack’s denim heritage collaboration with The Common-Folk, we traveled to Okayama, the birthplace of Japan’s deep denim culture, and where the collections of both brands are made.

SERVICES

Denim is rooted in culture and history, which is why we flew to Japan to produce this campaign collaboration. We were granted permission to shoot this project in the oldest working denim factory in Japan (a century-old), and where both brands produce their garments, and where hand made traditions still live. Shooting both video and stills, we shoot our concept in a documentary style, featuring Kamikaze Founder and the Factory’s Owner creating a pair of the collaborations signature pieces, and wearing a selection from the official capsule release.

RESULTS

Pieces of the collaboration were featured on Hypebeast & WGSN, and seen on celebrity Influencers DRAM & 50 Cent, with the capsule selling out online within its first two weeks.
